Third Axe Media began in December 2004 when D. A. Adams became frustrated by the state of the publishing industry. He decided to start his own company and launch The Brotherhood of Dwarves as an independent book. After finding a printer and securing investment in the venture, he put together the proofs and went to press. In February of 2005, Third Axe released TBOD. To date, the book has sold well and has received high praise from critics, avid fantasy readers, and ordinary people.
Third Axe released a second edition of TBOD in 2008 and the sequel, Red Sky at Dawn. Currently, Adams is writing the third installment and plans for a release date sometime in 2010. While not an easy endeavor, the process of launching and running Third Axe has been one of the most rewarding experiences of D. A.'s life, and he suggests that anyone who dreams of publishing a book, working as an artist, or running their own business should take the chance. Even if they fail, the journey and fulfillment are worth it.
